Rahul is an applied mathematician who drifted into engineering and never entirely left either. He covers the parts of the site that are pure calculation — geometry, percentages, statistics, unit conversion, dates, the science calculators and the developer tools — and he is the second pair of eyes on formulas elsewhere.

His concern is the arithmetic being right for the right reason. Unit conversion is where that shows: a factor is easy, but rounding at the wrong step, or converting a temperature as if it were a length, produces answers that look plausible and are not. He would rather a page showed the formula than asked to be trusted.

He also writes the statistics pages, mostly to argue with the way they are usually taught — a significance test answers a narrower question than most people think they are asking, and saying so is part of the calculation.
