Tax, payroll and running a business · Berekening.be

David trained as an accountant and spent most of his career on the unglamorous end of it: payroll runs, quarterly filings, and explaining to business owners why the figure in the bank was not the figure they had earned. He owns the tax, payroll, business and salary calculators here.

Tax content ages faster than anything else on a calculator site, so his part of the job is as much maintenance as writing. Bands, thresholds and rates are checked against each year's published tables and dated on the page, because a bracket calculator that is quietly a year out of date is worse than no calculator at all — it is wrong with confidence.

He writes for the person doing this once a year rather than the specialist, and takes the view that a page which does not say which year it applies to has not finished the job.
